SoCal-based Aloha Radio’s frontwoman Lauren Mulderrig looks like the archetypal California girl but she’s more than just blond hair and a tan: The musician is the glue of the band delivering enveloping lead vocals, ukulele and acoustic guitar.

The quartet’s brand of 60s surf pop—highlighted by Alex Barnett on lap steel—incorporates elements of Hawaiian sounds and brightly-lit West Coast rock soaked in Dick Dale-size waves. Check out tunes like “Big Wave Madness” and “Spy Rider” to enjoy the full flavor of the Orange County quartet.
